Hello again. I am sorry for my long absence again, i hope now that i am beginning to get things together in my life and i will be blogging more consistanly on all my blogs.

This week i am highlighting Pharmaprix's new brand called Simply Food because the name is great-it really gets across the idea of good basic food. The way Simply Food is displayed the the packages is great, its easy to read and the different sized letters are a nice touch. The colours that are used are vibrant and the colour combinations work very well together. The pictures of the food are clear and well set up and the backgrounds for each are well chosen. I wanted to highlight the design used by a Thai restaurant i visited recently called Mak Mak. Find a description of what i liked about the interior (funky) on my Monologuing blog and see the interior at the Urban Spoon website. I also like what they did on their business cards which can be seen on their menu at the top as seen jsut below. The squares with bright colours and funky graphics which make it easy to see the info communicated and enjoyable to look at. Very nice.

Still with stamps this post i am highlighting the Montreal Canadiens Hockey jersey stamp made to highlight their 100 anniversary by Canada Post. I like it because the Montreal Canadiens are my favourite hockey team, but also because the stamp is well done, the way the logo looks like its on a actual jersey is nicely done.

One of my favourite Wordpress themes is called Neat!. My blog Spirit Voice uses this theme. Neat! has a great design;it is very clean. The posts are clearly seperated from each other and the sidebar elements are clearly seperate and therefore easy to use. Colour is used very well.

I would really love to join the Folio Society; though i guess i would buy books that i would enjoy reading, the main reason i would buy books from the Folio Society is the beauty of the books, their covers, their illustrations, their feel. For todays post I would like to highlight my favourite theme on Google, Floral Chaos. The design is wonderful, the colours change throughout the day (my favourite, blue) with all the swirls and leaves it is reminds me of a field of grass in a heavy wind. Artistic, funky-the best Google theme.

Now for something a little bit different. In this post I wanted to highlight a favourite book cover of mine-the book is called Dead Cold and is written by Louise Penny. The matching of the colour of the text to the colour of the photo, the picture taking up the whole cover, the name of the book and the author both at optimal sizes, the choice of picture matches beautifully with the title.

Pottery Barn Design Library

What I really love about the Pottery Barn Design Library books is that they cover all the bases of a well designed book. Excellent photographs that are incorporated into the page very well, including being the right size; well chosen colours that work well together; the overall design comes together nicely; all used in the design of the book feels right, is great to look at and does not detract from the content but adds to your enjoyement of it. The content is excellent, and since it is about Interior Design it is only right that the design of the book should be well done. Go to here for a look at Pottery Barn Bathrooms.

I really like the design of the Coke Zero lable. There is the words of Coca Cola-I really like the font used, then the font of zero offset with the coke font works really well, especially making the o thinner to emphasize the Zero angle and then the the colours red, black and silver look really great together.

Concordia University Building

The different Universities in Montreal, there are four large ones in all, Have recently been adding on to their campuses. The Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex is one of the buildings that Concordia University has recently added to their campus. I really like it. It has different parts, but all the parts come together well. The use of wood, glass with a green tinge and a mural on the side of the building all add to the nice design.

Design of krinos labels. The one I am looking at now is on a jar that held Roasted Red Pepper. As I look at it I get the happy feeling people who love design get when they see it well done. Their logo is distinctive, it stands out, and does make you think of Greece, which is good since Krinos manufactures greek specialty foods. Colour is used well on the label, The parts of the label are well seperated from each other making it easy to find your way around it. The writing is big enough to be easily read.

Stamp Beauty is coming to Some Beauty. I find that many stamps are very well designed so I thought I would highlight some of my favourite designs; I will start out by looking at stamps from Australia, Canada, The United Kingdom and the United States; this should keep me going for a while.

The first stamps I would like to highlight come from Australia and are put out by Australia Post. The stamps, called Living Green, were made to encourage people to live more green by highlighting ways of being green. I like the use of strong colours and humourous pictures, it gets across the message well.

I first saw a Ludmila Curilova painting when i was out in Vancouver. I found her paintings to be stylish and interesting. I also liked the fact that she uses small objects on some of her paintingsgiving them texture-putting objects on the painting, for example, as jewlery for the woman in the painting.

The Schulich School of Business and Learning at York University in Toronto is wonderfully designed inside and out. It has nice lines, has a scandinavian, modern style to it-not ornate, spare but beautiful- and not cold, because it is given warmth by the wood and abundance of natural light. It was awarded the Governor Generals Architecture Medal for 2006.

Another website i found that i really like is the christian card, gift and e-card site DaySpring. The fact that the main colour for the main page is blue doesn't hurt, this being my favourite colour, but beyond this the use of mainly one colour nicely unifies the page (repitition), the page itself is not cluttered and easily navigateable, each part of the page is nicely seperate from the rest (proximity) and the parts line up well so your eye doesn't feel annoyed (alignment). Darwin Wiggett's Photo's

I first came across one of Darwin Wiggett's photographs in a calander i have that features panoramic photos of places across Canada. I then went and found him on a photographic website called First Light. There i discovered loads more wonderfull photographs by Darwin Wiggett. Take a look and enjoy somemore beauty.
